MSL Best Practices Confidential Executive Forum
THE SOLUTION
What if you belong to a confidential network of executives like yourself who know first-hand the challenges you face? What if you can confidentially ask a question and receive answers faster than the time it takes to haggle around a consulting agreement? What if you can support presentations to your leadership team with “real time” benchmarking data?
I decided to do something about this unmet need, so during the Fall Quarter of 2008, I tested the concept of a MSL Best Practices confidential network.
The response to the MSL Best Practices confidential network was immediate.
25 companies participated, from big pharma to big biotech, start-up biotechs, specialty pharmas, to medical device companies. In less than 3 months, we covered over 20 topics – Questions and Quagmires big and small, posed by MSL executives in the network. Here’s why the idea works:
MSL Best Practices Saves You Time.
Perhaps more importantly…
MSL Best Practices Protects Your Identity.
Here is a small sample of the discussion topics from Fall 2008 MSL Best Practices:
- MSL COMPLIANCE: Given the pending revisions to the PhRMA code of conduct in 2009, how restrictive is your company with respect to MSL and Med Affairs personel with HCPs? Are meals with a defined business purpose allowed?
- THOUGHT LEADER CRM: Does anyone have a company-wide KOL database (clinical R&D, MSL, Commercial, Medical) that they use to track KOL interactions?
- MSL METRICS: How many days in the field are your MSLs expected to work?
- MSL TRAINING: Does you MSL team undergo any regular knowledge- or therapeutic assessment? If so, what does this consist of?
- MSL COMPLIANCE: If your MSLs provide slide to thought leaders, are these on-label or off-label slides? Are the MSLs responsible for training or review of the slide content with the thought leader to ensure appropriate use?
